I've talked with so many people who deal with this, my sister even dealt with it at one point. Everyone has a different opinion about what to do, but before you take any action, let me advise you; DON'T put your mother-in-law down in front of your husband. This can cause serious marriage problems further down the road.
The best advice I've ever heard is to get your mother-in-law set up with a man. The only reason she drops in all the time is because she's bored! Have her over for dinner with another guy sometime... just see what happens. Of course, this only works if her husband is deceased! Talk to your husband and see what he thinks. Obviously, her little "visits" bug him too, so maybe he can help. All that being said, the point I want to reinforce is SHE'S BORED. You and your husband need to get her involved somewhere in the community. Thanks for the question!!
